How to Achieve Fitness

Physical fitness is the state of being physically fit. It means being physically capable of performing daily activities. Generally, achieving physical fitness involves following a regimen of moderate-to-vigorous exercise and proper nutrition. Proper rest and recovery are essential as well. There are various ways to achieve fitness, but here are some of the most common methods:

First of all, determine your motivation. What do you want to achieve with fitness? A well-fit person has glowing skin, no fatigue, and an upbeat attitude. Fitness is not only about physical health, but also a mental one. A quote by John F. Kennedy, who was famously said, “Physical fitness equates to mental health”.

A good example of how to measure fitness is through motor-performance. A test of motor-performance fitness includes exercises such as chin-ups and sit-ups, a standing long jump, and the shuttle run. The test also assesses leg speed and mobility. All of these tests are used to determine whether you’re fit or not. The test results provide valuable information regarding the degree of fitness that you have. For example, if you’ve never exercised, you shouldn’t start a vigorous training program until you have developed the necessary strength.

The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) recommends that you engage in at least 20-60 minutes of vigorous physical activity at least two times a week. Walking, stair-climbing, biking, and running are good activities for developing cardiovascular fitness. Whether you want to achieve muscle mass or lose body fat, cardiovascular fitness will improve your life.
