How to Look After Your Lash Extensions This Summer

Lash extensions can be a game-changer, giving you longer, fuller lashes without the hassle of applying mascara every day. However, during the summer months, when heat, humidity, and outdoor activities come into play, it’s crucial to give your lash extensions some extra TLC to ensure they stay in top shape. Here are some tips on how to care for your lash extensions during the summer season:

Avoid excessive heat and humidity: High temperatures and humidity can weaken the adhesive used to bond lash extensions. Try to minimize exposure to extreme heat, such as saunas, hot tubs, or sunbathing, as it can cause the lashes to loosen or fall out prematurely.

Protect against water: While it’s tempting to take a dip in the pool or ocean during the summer, it’s essential to protect your lash extensions from prolonged exposure to water. Avoid submerging your face in the water or swimming underwater, as excessive moisture can weaken the lash bond. If your lashes do get wet, gently pat them dry with a clean towel instead of rubbing or pulling on them.

Use oil-free products: Oil-based skincare and makeup products can break down the lash adhesive, leading to premature lash loss. Opt for oil-free makeup removers, cleansers, and cosmetics to ensure your lash extensions stay intact. When removing eye makeup, be gentle and use a cotton swab or a soft brush to clean around the lash line.

Avoid rubbing or pulling: Resist the urge to rub or pull at your lash extensions, as this can damage both the lashes and the natural ones they are attached to. Instead, if you need to clean your lashes, use a lash cleanser specifically formulated for extensions and a soft brush to gently comb through them.

Protect from sun exposure: Just like our skin, our lashes can be affected by sun exposure. If you’ll be spending time outdoors, consider wearing a wide-brimmed hat or sunglasses to shield your lashes from direct sunlight. UV rays can weaken the lash fibers and cause them to become brittle.

Maintain regular fills: Lash extensions have a natural shedding cycle, and during the summer, this process may be more noticeable due to heat and sweating. To keep your lash line looking full and lush, schedule regular fill appointments with your lash technician to replace any lost extensions and maintain your desired look.
